Governing Strategy: The hard yards of implementation and oversight

Richie Feder

Co-Founder, Ensemble Strategy

Strategist, mentor and capability builder, Richie is known as a trusted advisor who is equal parts supportive, equal parts provocateur. As a highly sought after facilitator, he guides boards, executives and large-scale audiences through energetic, innovative processes that are fun but not frivolous.

Hailing from the UK, with foundations in large-scale public good consulting, Richie has spent the last decade working with for-purpose leaders seeking change. A strategy and operating model guru, Richie helps his clients create alignment from the strategy to the business model to the operating model, ensuring the right enabling environment is in place to allow new plans to flourish.

Passionate about health, disability, early childhood education and the environment, Richie holds board positions, acts as a mentor, and leads system reform in these fields. As the co-founder of Ensemble Strategy, Richie brings his advisory experience, teaching skills and great sense of humour to help for-purpose leaders amplify the impact of their efforts.

We all know boards have a key role in strategy development, however what is given less airtime is how to keep the strategy alive, on track and what to do when things change.

Discover practical tools and real stories that will help NFP board directors and leaders to not just create strategies, but also keep them alive, adaptable, and relevant. Making sure that existing and new board members feel more confident in making smart decisions and driving ongoing improvement.

This practical session will:

  1. Outline key governance tools, as well as practical case studies to help board members monitor the delivery and risks of strategy implementation, ensure the right level of information is being received, and suggest key questions board directors should be asking of management.
  2. Help board members and leaders of NFP organisations to feel more confident in the steps needed to go beyond the development of strategy to ensure it is kept alive and is a valued tool in shaping decisions and outcomes for the organisations.

This presentation is about giving practical tools and real-life examples to board directors and NFP leaders. Understand how to watch over the plans, deal with risks, and make sure everyone is on the same page.
